Important Registration Information

¨ Tdap booster shot is required for all incoming 7th graders

All incoming 7th graders must show proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster shot (Tdap) prior to starting school. The Tdap booster shot must be given on or after the 10th birthday. By law, students who do not have proof of receiving a Tdap booster shot will not be able to start off the school year until proof of the immunization is provided to the school. (The tetanus-diphtheria booster shot, Td, will not meet the requirement). Remember, no immunization ~ no proof ~ no school.

¨ TB Test required if traveling outside the United States

Attention parents: A TB test is required to re-enter school after traveling for 4 weeks or longer to one of the following endemic areas: Mexico, Asia, Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe or the Pacific Islands. Please bring the TB test and it’s reading to the office prior to picking up your student’s schedule.

WEB Day Information 7th Grade

What’s WEB?  WEB stands for "Where Everybody Belongs"!  NJHS 8th grade WEB leaders and teacher mentors have gone through a special training just for our incoming 7th graders.  WEB pairs 8th grade mentors with 7th graders for a day of fun activities! Let us help you to prepare for a smooth and successful transition to Newark Junior High School when our WEB Crew will spend the day with you.   So mark your calendars and please attend!

7th Grade WEB Day (sponsored by our WEB Crew) is scheduled for Monday, August 18th  from 9:00am to 12:30pm starting  in the gymnasium.  There is a free BBQ lunch for all 7th grade students who attend, so don’t miss out!

Dear 7th Grade Parents,

We are very excited your child will be attending Newark Junior High and we look forward to meeting him or her on WEB Day on Monday, August 18th from 9:00am to 12:30pm.  The sole purpose of WEB is to help 7th graders feel more comfortable as well as help them achieve success in their first year of junior high school.

The WEB 7th grade transition program is designed to both welcome and support 7th graders by assigning them two 8th grade WEB leaders as mentors during their first year and joining them with other incoming 7th graders.  This WEB Leader is a responsible older student who was hand selected from a large pool of applicants and has met the qualifications of being a good role model and a positive leader on our campus.

WEB Day Tips:

Your child is encouraged to dress comfortably and to not bring a backpack, purse or other like items as the day is quite active!

7th Grade students will NOT get schedules on WEB day!

Your child will get a free BBQ lunch on WEB day!

This is a student-only function so we encourage you to let your child attend on her or his own.  However, if you would like to help with the event, please contact the office.

We look forward to meeting you and your child on orientation day!

Mrs. Murray and Ms. Ryan
